The seminar series on Renewable Energy Resources organized by
ANERT, in association with Centre for Innovation in Science and
Social Action (CISSA) was inaugurated on 30th August, 2007 as
part of the celebration of Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas at
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram by Dr. P. S.
Chandramohan, (Principal, Govt.Engg College, Barton Hill &
Former Director, ANERT).
The programme was presided over by the principal of the School,
Dr. Cicy Roy Mathew. Dr. P. S. Chandramohan pointed out that our
state has great potential and opportunities in its renewable
energy sources such as wind and wave. How ever these arenas
remain untapped. Only recently, the State Govt. has initiated
some steps for tapping wind energy. The state has to focus its
research on these renewable energy resources available and the
need to tap them.
Mr. Vinod Kumar, Lecturer , St. Gits College of Engineering,
Kottayam presented paper on energy conservation. In his talk he
emphasized the need for management and conservation of energy
resources.
