Seminar on Energy Conservation And Distribution of Smokeless
Chulahs

CISSA had organized a seminar on Energy Conservation on 29th
March 2007 at Deepa Auditorium, Azhakulam, Venganur Grama
Panchayath with support from Energy Management Centre,
Thiruvananthapuram.
The Seminar, which was organized along with the inaugural
ceremony for the distribution of smokeless chulahs to 384
beneficiaries by ANERT. The programme was inaugurated by Sri.
Gangadharan Nadar (Standing committee Chairman, Trivandrum
District Panchayath). Smt.Sheela Bhadran (President, Grama
Panchayat, Venganoor) has presided over the function.

In the first technical session Sri.K. Madhusoodanan (Head,
Energy Efficiency Department of EMC) had delivered a lecture on
“Energy Conservation”. During his lecture he has spoke about the
Necessity of energy conservation in a developing country like
India and the ill effects of depending on the conventional and
fossil fuels. He has also highlighted about the need of
optimizing and adopting technologies for achieving better
efficiency.
In the second technical session, Sri. A. Rajagopalan Achari
(Energy Technologist, EMC) spoke about the “Energy conservation
opportunities in the residential buildings and household
appliances”. He has briefly explained about the necessity of
using energy efficient equipments by quantifying the prospective
savings in each energy efficient equipments and gadgets. In the
third technical session Sri.Jayamohan, District Project Officer,
ANERT has spoke about the construction, maintenance and
advantages of smokeless chulahs. Sri. V.R.Sabu, Sr.Lecturer, SCT
College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram was the moderator.
The seminar was attended by more than 300 delegates which
include representatives of local NGOs, clubs, residential
associations, schoolteachers and students. |
