Seminar on Energy Conservation

Centre for Innovation in Science and Social action (CISSA) had
organized a one-day seminar on Energy Conservation on November
21st 2006 at Hotel Prasanthi, Parassala, with support from
Energy Management Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. The Lions Club of
Parassala had associated with CISSA in organizing this seminar.
The Seminar which was organized as part of Energy awareness
month observed from November 15th to December 14th was
inaugurated by Smt.S.Ushakumari President Block Panchayath,
Parassala, in a function Presided by Sri.R.Biju, President,
Grama Panchayath, Parassala. Sri.K.M.Dharesan Unnithan Director,
Energy Management Centre, Thiruvananthapuram gave the Key note
address. .V.R.Sabu, SCT College of Engineering,
Thiruvananthapuram. Prof. Devakumar, President, Marthandam Lions
Club also spoke. Sri. Sarath Chandran President, Lions club,
Parassala welcomed the guests and Sri.Sreenath Regional
Co-coordinator of CISSA proposed vote of thanks.
In the first technical session Sri.K.M.Dharesan Unnithan
delivered a lecture on “Energy Conservation”. During his lecture
he has specifically highlighted about the energy conservation
opportunities in the residential buildings and household
appliances. In the second technical session Sri.K.
Madhusoodanan, Head, Energy Efficiency Department of EMC had
delivered a lecture on different renewal energy options. The
seminar was attended by be representatives of various Govt
agencies, KSEB, local NGOs, clubs, residential associations,
schoolteachers and students. The Programme was well appreciated
by the delegates. The programme received good coverage in the
print media.
