Annam Organising Committee Formed
The Organizing Committee Meeting of Annam Food & Agro
Biodiversity Festival at Kozhikode was formed at a meeting held
at Press Club, Kozhikode on 21st November 2009. The meeting
presided over by the Veteran Gandhian Environmentalist Sri.
Thayat Balan was attended by people from a wide cross section of
society, which included Representatives of NGOs, Government
Department, Academicians, Social Workers and Environmental
Activists. Sri. M. A. Johnson of Darsanam Samskarika vedi
welcomed the participants. Dr. C. Sureshkumar, General
Secretary, CISSA made a presentation on “Philosophy and
Activities of Annam Festival”. Prof. Shobeendran(
Environmentalist), Dtr. S. Rajasekharan(TBGRI), Sri.
M.Sreeram(President, Calicut Chamber of Commerce), Sri. K. P.
U.Ali (Rural Development Society), Dr. S. Sunilkumar(CISSA), and
Fr. Antony Kuzhuvanal addressed the meeting. This was followed
by a detailed discussion on the possible activities that can be
taken as part of Annam Festival. All the participants stressed
the importance of such an initiative and offered their whole
hearted support for the event. Sri. Ajith Venniyoor(CISSA)
presented the list of Organising Committee Members . Dr. N. S.
Pradeep proposed Vote of Thanks. Annam Core
Committee Meeting held at Corporation Office, Kozhikode
The First Core Committee Meeting of Annam Festival was held at
Calicut Corporation Office, Conference Hall on 21st November
2009 at 10am. The meeting was presided over by Sri.S.
Vijayakumar Secretary, Corporation of Kozhikode and was
inaugurated by Sri. P. Divakaran, Councilor, Corporation of
Kozhikode. Sri. A. V. Anoop, MD, Cholayil Sanjeevanam and the
Prime Sponsor was also present in the Core Committee meeting.
Core Committee finalized the tentative timeline for various
activities connected with the festival. The

The First Press Conference in Connection with the Annam Festival
held at Hotel Malabar Palace, Kozhikode on 9th December 2009
received enthusiastic response from the media. More than seventy
media persons attended the press conference addressed by Sri.
Thayat Balan, Prof. Shobeendran, Dr. R. Ansari, Dr. C.
Sureshkumar, Sri. K. P. U. Ali and Sri. C. E. Chakkunni. Sri. M.
A. Jhonson welcomed the media persons. Both print and electronic
media gave wide coverage for the festival.
Kozhikode Corporation joins Annam Festival as Co- Organizer
The Kozhikode Corporation has decided to join Annam Festival as
Co organizer. Sri M. Bhaskaran, Worshipful Mayor of Kozhikode
conveyed this decision to the organizing secretary, Dr. C.
Sureshkumar. The Worshipful Mayor serve as the Patron of the
Organising Committee while, Prof. P.T. Abdul Latheef, Deputy
Mayor will function as the Chairman of Reception Committee. |
